It can even be argued that some of the new tech that has been released to agents is making moving worse for consumers, by making it harder to find the right agent in the first place.

For example, using a data driven “market intelligence” product does not make you a better agent. But they do help inferior agents look better to sellers, prior to instruction. This is increasing the problem of sellers instructing the wrong agents.

Successful moves involve multiple parties on all sides, movers, agents and suppliers.

Every agent has a different, unique selection of suppliers, so for a supplier marketplace to work properly, it has to be open to all.

The Supplier Marketplace that BestAgent released in 2019 is ready for suppliers to connect to when they are ready, bringing automatic integration with agent customers, and easier mover journeys for all involved.

Moving successfully is about choosing the best agent for you.

There are countless considerations when moving home. But by far the biggest is the choice of agent. A seller who chooses the best agent for their personal circumstances first time, will achieve a quicker sale at a better price. But there’s no such thing as the best agent in a town, only the best agent for any given individual customer, because it’s a personal choice.

Perry has his own closed Facebook group with more than a thousand members, designed purely for agents who want to discuss industry matters in private, and where he shares his views, his ups and downs in business and his ideas with his heart on his sleeve, in his regular late night, warts-and-all Facebook live videos.

He has recorded dozens of videos giving free advice to home movers anywhere in the country on how to choose an agent and what they can do to improve their chances of getting the right result, as well as a vault of training videos that he makes available to other agents, where he shares specific strategies and techniques.

I have known Perry for over 10 years now, and his enthusiasm and passion for what he does is infectious. I record these interviews in the hope they will provide some inspiration for anyone thinking of setting up their own estate agency. Perry’s stories of how he got started are insightful, honest and I hope give the rough-and-smooth truth of what you can expect when getting started on your own.

BestAgent, in association with it’s 20 signed partners plus many more potential partners, are seeking like-minded industry suppliers to attend a conference to discuss the release of an Open Platform that will allow all agents instant online access to any PropTech, or other industry supplier, from one “MarketPlace” location.

The event is invite-only with limited spaces and no charge, courtesy of Future: PropTech. The conference will begin at 8.30am, run until lunchtime, with open discussions in the afternoon, and take place at a venue in north west London.

The objective of the day is to agree the headline technical, legal and commercial standards that will govern the operation of the MarketPlace.

All agency CRM products will be invited to provide uploads to the MarketPlace on behalf of their customers, and all the main established CRM providers will be invited to attend.
