Advisory board update: the PHP2Shell vulnerabilities (22 Oct 2026)
On 21 October, PHP released emergency fixes for two critical flaws in PHP itself, known as “PHP2Shell” (CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619). PHP is the programming language behind WordPress and roughly 70% of websites. The flaws let an attacker take over a server, or read passwords and keys from its memory, without logging in. Attacks had started before the fix was released.
BestAgent is not affected.
- Our platform: BestAgent’s application doesn’t use PHP, so the flaws don’t apply to it.
- Our WordPress sites: bestagent.co.uk, bestagent.club and mhwc.co.uk are hosted on WP Engine. WP Engine patched PHP across its whole platform and marked the incident resolved at 2:19am UK time on 22 October, with no action needed from customers (WP Engine status page: https://wpenginestatus.com/incidents/969801).
